Paddy Connolly v. Asbjørn Berg-Hansen, flyweight

A. Hansen, a tall, thin youth, was palpably very nervous at the start of the flyweight contest, and Connolly, wading in, drove him around the ring with punches to the body. Connolly continued to attack in the second round, but he was swinging his punches too much to do real damage. Hansen, gaining confidence, began to employ his advantage in reach, and in the third round scored points with his left. 

The fourth Connolly took by dint of good two-fisted work at close quarters, but Hansen was very fit, and in the fifth he caught Connolly with a perfectly-timed right to the jaw. The last round saw Connolly still on the aggressive, but Hansen used the ring well, and had not his right swing been inaccurate he might have punished Connolly, who was very open at times.

The verdict went to Connolly, to put Ireland one up.
